Committee structure
Committee structure of the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Authority
Authority Meetings
These are meetings that all Fire Authority Members attend. The meetings are scheduled to take place roughly every two months but extraordinary (or “Special”) meetings are sometimes arranged at short notice. There is an Annual General Meeting usually in June and a Budget Authority meeting usually in February.
Committees
There are two main committees of the Fire Authority. The Community Safety and Protection, and Policy and Resources Committees have decision making powers.
- Appointments Committee
- Audit Committee
- Community Safety and Protection Committee
- Joint Fire & Police Collaboration Committee
- Policy and Resources Committee
- Scrutiny Committee
- Urgency Committee
Sub-Committees
Sub Committees are smaller meetings related to one of the main Committees but focusing on more specific areas.
Groups and Panels
Panels have no meeting dates set at the AGM. They meet on an ad-hoc basis whenever there is a need. These tend to be convened to look in detail at particular issues or to consider information of a confidential nature; and therefore, do not tend to be open to the public. The Member Development & Engagement Group has meeting dates set to coincide with the Full Authority Meetings.
